Romantic Mountain Elopement at House of the Friesians | Invermere, BC

When Yelizaveta and Kyrylo first reached out, it was just a few days before their big day. They had originally planned to tie the knot at a different location but made a last-minute change the night before. Their spot? The House of the Friesians—a tucked-away mountain gem just outside of Panorama near Invermere. And wow, what a beautiful choice it turned out to be.

I arrived a little early to scout the area and offer help if needed. I was warmly welcomed by Gerard, the owner of the venue, and I can’t say enough good things about him. He was kind, always smiling, and clearly takes great pride in maintaining the property. Every little detail—from the perfectly trimmed grounds, the beautiful barn to, yes, the most pleasantly scented outhouse I’ve ever encountered—reflected how much love and care he pours into the place.

The ceremony took place in a peaceful pasture surrounded by wildflowers and mountain views. The couple said “I do” under a delicate arch decorated with an iron heart, with the Rocky Mountains rising majestically in the background. It was quiet, heartfelt, and incredibly romantic. The intimacy of this wedding allowed time to slow down. I had the chance to connect not just with Yelizaveta and Kyrylo, but with their small circle of loved ones. These are the moments that stay with you.

And then there was that dress. Yelizaveta wore a stunning, princess-like white gown with a full hoop skirt that took everyone’s breath away. Her veil caught the breeze just right, and we created photos for a wedding album that's just magical. There was also a subtle glow in the air that hinted at something extra special to come for these two...

While I loved every second of this day, I’ll admit: the only thing missing was getting to see the Friesian horses themselves. As a horse lover, that would have been the cherry on top! But it just gives me another reason to come back—and I truly hope I will.

If you’re looking for an elopement or intimate wedding location near Invermere or Panorama, I highly recommend checking out the House of the Friesians. It’s a hidden treasure in the Columbia Valley that offers mountain views, floral meadows, and the warmth of true hospitality.
